Valentina Grisales: poetic art on memory, emotionality and daily life in Colombia

Observing herself inhabiting the world and leaving traces of that presence through drawing, color, and poetry lies at the heart of her artistic practice.

Her work reflects on the deep connection between emotion and memory, weaving them together through graphic and literary analogies.

Writing is her primary act of creation, later transformed into gestural compositions and visual metaphors that inhabit space with sensitivity. She employs symbols, traces, and gestures that tell intimate stories without revealing their circumstances.

Her work often question the pain that comes with existing in the world, as a way to understand and process the complexity of being. Each gesture becomes an act of listening to the body and to the surrounding world. Valentina’s practice embraces contemplative processes, the passage of time, and exercises that nurture her bond with the territory she inhabits.

Valentina lives and works in Manizales, Colombia.
