River Offering

“Ofrenda de río” is a gesture of surrender that springs from a wounded body opening itself to the landscape as a source of care and transformation. It emerges from intimate journeys through the mountains, where what is broken finds a place to be held. Along this path, silence and contemplation become a language, and the fragmented begins to weave itself together with a new sensibility.

Across the mountain, the fragments unfold
what was broken begins to weave,
and at last, the heart finds rest.

The teachings have been many; it is time to give thanks.

To let oneself be submerged in river water, to allow transformation, to let it carry the broken pieces and receive them as a gift,

To let it take the scraps and return them, whole.

It is time to offer gratitude with a heart wide open to the land that made the change possible.

River Offering presents itself as a fragmented and mended body,
a symbol of how pain can be inhabited, woven, and transformed through a relationship with the land.
It stands as a testimony of mourning and a reflection on the ways we inhabit a world shaped by fragility and loss.

The work was created in the mountains and rivers of Manizales, the city where I continue to weave my relationships of care with the territory.

“Ofrenda de Río,” video installation, fabric, charcoal, and earth pigments on canvas, installation (250×200×40 cm), video (6’43”, loop), 2025.
